Baked oats with greek yoghurt are a winning combo for a balanced, nourishing breakfast. The beauty of it is the endless flavour combinations and making it on a Sunday for the week ahead. They are very easy to transport to the office or studio and are great for kids and grown-ups alike. This recipe is made with kefir instead of milk for the added bonus of supporting your gut health.

Mango lassi and raspberry ice lollies

Mango and raspberries are always in my freezer. Fab ingredients for smoothies, but in the summer we make ice lollies and iced desserts! Based on a classic mango lassi recipe, the cardamom brings these flavours together beautifully. This recipe is made using Greek yoghurt but also works with non-dairy alternatives such as coconut milk/cream or almond milk. Once the ice moulds are full, enjoy the leftover as a smoothie.

Perfectly balanced breakfast bowl

Possibly my 3 favourite Bs: Balance, Breakfast and Bowl. Building a balanced breakfast bowl is so much fun and far easier and quicker than it looks. This is how I built this pretty and colourful bowl of yumminess. Most ingredients can be swapped for similar items you will have in your fridge or cupboards, fruits can be changed based on seasonal availabilities and yoghurt can be replaced with your dairy-free option if necessary.

Can you resist these? Really simple to make, but also, amazingly healthy and nutritious. What’s not to like? Children will love to get involved and they can customise with their favourites. You can substitute with blueberries or blackberries - or any of your favourite berries. You can use frozen berries too. A colourful snack or healthy treat perfect to share (or not!).

Berries & coconut nice cream

That sweet taste of summer... Yes I am talking berries and ice cream combination in any way possible!! Except that this ice cream has no milk! It’s the power of the humble banana striking again. We always have bananas in my house, fresh in the fruit bowl for those quick energy refuel moments. I also usually have some sliced frozen bananas in my freezer to add to smoothies or make this nice cream. Once you’ve done this one…do experiment with your favourite flavours!

Let’s all say yes and add this amazing fruit compote or jam. only 5 minute to prep and it will fill your kitchen with the sweet aromas or an old fashioned jam making kitchen! It is THE all round perfect breakfast partner to your overnight oats, porridge, or yoghurt topped up with nuts and seeds! Great with homemade waffles too!

I could not offer a more simple, balanced, delicious make ahead breakfast than this one! I wasn't even sure I was going to write this as a "recipe". But at The Health Boost we are passionate about simple real whole foods and ingredients. Being healthy does not require fancy ingredients and long winded fussy recipes. So here it is, a simple fairly rustic and fail safe recipe for a balanced breakfast. What fruit will you pick to make yours?

are you eating enough vegetables?

Whatever diet you are on... paleo, vegan, vegetarian, nordic, LCHF or a typical Western diet there's no doubt that increasing your vegetable intake is something that will benefit you. The benefits for our cardiovascular system, immune system, brain health and weight are huge and we should be aiming at hitting at least 10 portions of different vegetables a day into our diet. Ten I hear you say, that’s impossible! But actually it’s much easier than you think, as I will outline later. Eating an abundant rainbow of vegetables really will leave you feeling so much better.

5-minute chia jam

When porridge season is upon us, making sure we have a wide choice of healthy toppings is key to good breakfast nutrition. Nut butters are a favourite in our house, but this no refined sugar jam is a great healthy alternative. The key to making porridge last you until lunchtime is to include some protein and healthy fats. With the addition of the chia seeds, this jam does both of these things! We have used some of our "pick your own" summer fruits for this one.

Inspired by nature. Spring is on everyone's mind the minute the golden daffodils appear in gardens and across the countryside in the UK, and it also inspired this mango smoothie. Although not grown in this country, and always imported, mango is available all year round and is a great staple fruit to keep in your freezer alongside frozen berries ans frozen spinach.
