Pick me up smoothie

Pick me up smoothie

Ingredients

Serves 2

Could this purple bit of goodness be any prettier? Not only will a smoothie offer one of the easiest and most versatile way to add goodness to a healthy diet, I have found that with kids, it is such a practical on-the-go way to supplement their diets with essential vitamins and minerals they may lack. Packed full of seasonal ingredients they have become part of our daily life.

2 cups blackberries
1 tablespoon chia seeds
4 tablespoons Greek yoghurt
1 1/2 cups of Kefir
1 teaspoon raw honey

Method

  • In a nutribullet, or other blender, add all the ingredients and blend until smooth.

  • The balance of kefir and greek yoghurt can be altered to suit your preferred way of enjoying smoothies

  • Enjoy!

The Health Boost Tip

Blackberries, like most berries are low in calories but packed full of nutrients.
They are loaded in Vitamin C and are also rich in vitamins A, E, K, and B vitamins, as well as antioxidants. But that's not all, minerals such as copper, manganese, magnesium, potassium are also present and provide a valuable boost for healthy brain function.
Including kefir in this smoothie, has been inspired by recent gut health issues suffered by one of our husbands! Not a bad thing to include in your children's diet to boost their immunity for back to school. More on that subject very soon!
