ingredients
10 large medjool dates, soaked for 30mins
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 teaspoon raw turmeric powder
2 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated or chopped thinly
1 cup gluten free oats ( we like to use Rude Health Sprouted porridge oats)
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
method
In the bowl of a food processor, add the chopped dates and blitz to breakdown
Add all other ingredients and pulse until reaching a sticky paste
If it seems too dry, add a little of the reserved water from the soaked dates
If it seems too wet, add a little more oats
Pick up spoonfuls of mixture and roll between your hands
Lay on a baking sheet or dish
Once all the balls are formed, keep in the fridge to set and until you need them
The Health Boost Tip
These balls are entirely free of refined sugars, with chia seeds providing protein and the walnuts offering a good source of omega 3 essential fatty acids. Quick to prepare in advance as they are no-bake, these energy balls are a sure win-win of on-the-go nutrition for hectic days and summer picnics alike. The turmeric and ginger are anti-inflammatories which have been shown to help with pain and inflammation in the body – so the perfect snack for post-workout.
